Watermark
Add a diagonal or tiled watermark with your own text, color, size and opacity.
Watermark online, free and without limits
A watermark says what a document is before anyone reads a word of it: DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, SAMPLE, COPY, or your company name across a proposal. Choose the text, color, size, angle and opacity, place it anywhere on the page or tile it across the whole sheet. The mark is written as real content in the PDF, so it prints, survives being emailed on, and cannot be dismissed by a viewer setting.
How to add a watermark to a PDF
- 1
Upload the PDF you want to mark.
- 2
Type your watermark text and pick a color, size and angle.
- 3
Set the opacity, then choose a position — or switch on tiling to repeat it.
- 4
Press Watermark and download the stamped document.
What you get
- Full control of color, size, rotation, opacity and placement.
- Tile mode repeats the mark across the page, which is much harder to crop out.
- Apply to every page or only the ones you list.
- The original text underneath stays selectable and searchable.
Questions about Watermark
What people usually want to know before they upload a document.
Can a watermark be removed by someone else?
A determined person with the right software can remove almost any visual watermark. Tiling makes it far more tedious, and combining a watermark with Protect PDF — which can disallow copying — raises the effort considerably.
Can I use an image or a logo as the watermark?
The web tool stamps text. The underlying engine also supports image stamps, so an image option can be exposed if you need it.
Will the watermark hide the text underneath?
Only if you want it to. At the default 25% opacity the document reads normally through the mark. Raise the opacity for a stronger statement.
